Midwest Environmental Consulting, L.L.C. (MEC) staff have a long-standing excellent record of working with asbestos rules and regulations. Staff members have helped build the National Institute of Building Science Manual "Operation and Maintenance for Managing Asbestos in Place" in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). We have worked with building owners and managers to promote sound recommendations while on the Minnesota Department of Health regulatory advisory committees. Our understanding of the construction trades, rules, and regulations and the adverse effects that can be caused by improper management of asbestos have helped us develop sound services for asbestos-related work.
MEC has certified asbestos project designers who will develop specifications for the projects. The management services can help building owners and managers through the entire abatement process using current design practices to protect the building owner, workers, and the occupants of the building.
Study Phase: This effort includes the initial survey of the area affected by the proposed project, cost estimate for asbestos project management and abatement services. The study phase provides an opportunity to develop alternatives as they tie into other planned projects.
Design Phase: The project designer develops plans that include bidding requirements, qualifications of the contractors, insurance requirements, work practices and procedures, worker protection standards, plans and scope of work.
